Games in class
Take Ss outside with a long skipping rope. Get the Ss to stand all to one side of the rope. As each Ss goes to jump the skipping rope they must say a month in Japanese. If they get the month wrong then they need to go back to the end of the line of Ss. If the month is their birthday month they need to stay skipping and say all 12 months.
Sumimasen Buzz
Put Ss into small groups. Ss counts go round the group saying the days of the week getsu you bi げつようび to nichi you bi にちようび. But instead of saying sui you bi すいようび they must say simimasen すみません. If a Ss says the wrong thing or takes too long to answer they must stand up. The next person who makes a mistake then stands up and the first person who made a mistake can now sit down. OR When a Ss makes a mistake they stand and take a week day card from the Tt. This week day becomes the new starting point Ie the Ss gets do you bi どようび so the group starts saying the days from do you bi どようび. EXTRA: This can also be done using days of the month, months of the year. Ss can stand up if they say their birthday month or day. When the next Ss stands they can then sit again.
